EOC's Awareness Session

In keeping with its mandate to assess the working of the Equal Opportunity Act and making recommendations, the Equal Opportunity Commission (EOC) is hosting an awareness session on the various amendments suggested to its line ministry, at the San Fernando City Corporation, on Thursday 25th, August 2011, from 5.00pm to 7.00pm at the San Fernando City Hall Auditorium.

The event is aimed at sensitizing, raising awareness of and encouraging public discussion on issues of equal opportunity as well as to deepen the general public’s understanding of the work of the Commission.
 
The Commission would be represented by our Chairman, Emeritus Professor John La Guerre, Head Legal, Mr. Narendra Lalbeharry and Commissioner, Ms. Beverly Beckles. The General Public is invited.

The Equal Opportunity Act No. 69 of 2000 as amended by Act No. 5 of 2001 provides for the prohibition and prevention of certain kinds of discrimination. It also seeks to promote equal opportunity between persons of different status.
